Sugar Grove Launches Special Advisory Committee to Enhance Community Appeal

Community Members Invited to Join the New ‘Beautification Committee’

Sugar Grove, IL – Following the creation of the new "Sugar Grove Beautification Committee," the Village of Sugar Grove welcomes applications from community members interested in actively shaping the community's vibrant and appealing atmosphere. This committee, dedicated to fostering community pride and engagement, will collaborate closely with the Village Administrator, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas to the forefront for all residents to enjoy.

“We are thrilled to announce the launch of the 'Sugar Grove Beautification Committee.' This represents an exciting step forward in our ongoing journey to create a more vibrant and attractive community for all our residents. By actively engaging community members, we are dedicated to bringing fresh ideas to the forefront and enhancing the appeal of Sugar Grove as a place to call home. As this initiative kicks off, we eagerly anticipate the positive impact this committee will have on our village's appearance and overall quality of life,” said Village President Jennifer Konen.

The newly formed "Sugar Grove Beautification Committee" will engage with local community members and explore various projects and initiatives to enhance the Village's appearance. Among the initial projects on the committee's agenda are organizing a community "Clean-Up Day" to rejuvenate public spaces, and the involvement of committee members as judges for holiday contests, spreading seasonal cheer throughout the year.

This initiative will operate as a pilot program for one year, with plans for evaluation and potential expansion to follow. The Village Administrator will provide oversight and may involve other staff members as needed.

The Village invites all interested residents and community members to apply. Applications for the 'Sugar Grove Beautification Committee' are due by November 24, 2023. To ensure that there is an adequate water supply for drinking, bathing, and fire protection this summer, all residents are encouraged to comply with the Village’s water conservation ordinance. Water conservation measures are an important first step in protecting our water supply. All properties connected to the Village Water System must adhere to the following water restrictions: Even-numbered street addresses may water on even-numbered calendar dates between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Odd-numbered street addresses may water on odd-numbered calendar dates between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Automatic watering of trees and shrubs by means of root feeders within the drip line of the tree or shrub follow the even/odd restrictions stated above. There are no restrictions when watering with a hand held device. The planting of sod or grass seed is prohibited during the months of July and August unless you use a water source other than the Village Water System. Outside of the restricted summer months, property owners or residents who want to continuously water a newly seeded or sodded lawn must obtain a permit at the Public Works Department, located at 601 Heartland Drive, 630-391-7230. There is no fee for this permit; however, violators will be subject to fines. There are no restrictions when filling swimming pools that are fifty (50) gallons or less. All properties with swimming pools more than fifty (50) gallons must follow the even/odd watering restrictions during permitted hours of use. Please contact the Public Works Department at 630-391-7230 or pwadmin@sugargroveil.gov with any questions or concerns.
