Speed Limit Changed on a portion of Galena Blvd to 50MPH

New 50MPH zone on Galena Blvd.

Speed Limit Reduced on Section of Galena Blvd in Sugar Grove

The Village of Sugar Grove and the Sugar Grove Police Department would like to inform the community that the speed limit on Galena Blvd from Capitol Drive to just east of Densmore Rd has been reduced to 50 mph by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to enhance road safety in this area.

After conducting a comprehensive traffic study, IDOT has decided to reduce the speed limit from 55 mph to 50 mph near the Windsor Pointe subdivision. This change was made to enhance road safety within our community.

One of the measures the Sugar Grove Police Department has implemented to educate drivers on this reduction is the deployment of a speed trailer. This trailer serves as a visible reminder of the new speed limit and offers real-time feedback to drivers about their current speed. It plays a crucial role in our efforts to ensure safer roads in our community and educate drivers about the importance of adhering to the new speed limit. Residents can also expect the Sugar Grove Police Department to continue monitoring the new speed limit through visible presence and enforcement.

We encourage all residents and visitors to collaborate with us in making our community safer for everyone by following the new speed limit. Together, we can create a safer and more responsible driving environment for everyone in Sugar Grove.

As part of the Village’s ongoing environmental effort, and in order to increase the number of trees in town, the Village is offering a 50/50 cost-sharing program for parkway trees. The Village will contribute 50% of the cost of the trees, with residents providing the remaining 50%. The cost includes the tree, delivery, installation, and mulch. Participation in the program is strictly voluntary, is limited to owner-occupied homes, and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Trees can be placed only within the parkway. Residents may suggest locations for their trees, but locations will be reviewed for suitability and utility conflicts. The final location will be at the discretion of the Public Works Department. The Village will plant the trees in late May to early June (as weather permits) and will monitor their health during the initial growing season. Orders and payments are due by April 19, 2025. 2025 Spring Parkway Tree Program Form
